We partnered with Notch, a leader in innovative arborist equipment, to develop the Notch Throwline PopBox, an industry-first solution designed to simplify throwline deployment and storage. Combining thoughtful design with durable materials, the Pop Box features a unique self-opening mechanism with spring-loaded corners for quick and effortless access, a folding structure that prevents line tangles, and color-coded pockets to keep throw weights and lines organized.

We developed the spring-loaded self-opening mechanism to improve speed and reliability when deploying throwlines. The design creates a durable, easy-to-use system that eliminates the need for zippers or twisting motions, allowing the pop box to open instantly with a simple release of the buckle.
Multiple folding and storage methods were explored to keep the throw line tangle-free during transport and deployment. The final design traps the rope securely within the PopBox’s folding structure, preventing loose ends and slack that typically cause tangles. This approach ensures smooth, reliable line deployment, reducing downtime and frustration for arborists in the field.
From the first prototype to the final product, the Notch Throwline PopBox underwent extensive testing and refinement. Early versions focused on proving the core concept, quick, tangle-free deployment, and provided valuable insights into materials, mechanics, and user handling. Each iteration improved durability, ease of use, and compactness, resulting in the reliable and efficient tool used by arborists today.
